2003 Botta FTA 40-15, Aluminium Melting Furnace

The FTA 40-15 is a gas-fired aluminium melting furnace with a capacity of 4,000 kg of aluminium and a production output of 1,500 kg/h. Operating temperature 750°C, maximum temperature 900°C. Combustion system comprises 3 ZIO 165 RB 50/35 burners — 2 melting burners (1,260 kW total) and 1 holding burner (680 kW) — for a total installed thermal power of 1,710 kW. Ventilation via Mistral AR 71 fans with 7.5 kW motors. Hydraulic control unit with CASAPPA KP 30.34 D BZ pump, 150-litre tank, 100 bar maximum pressure, and HOUGHTON SAFE 620 fire-resistant aqua-glycol hydraulic fluid. Upper furnace door operated by 2 hydraulic cylinders (Øal 92/80 mm, stroke 370 mm). Furnace lifting via 2 PENTA KJ SL02 4 SN cylinders. Front door lifting via 1 cylinder (Øal 60/50 mm, stroke 800 mm). Charging group with skip tipper cylinders (Øal 80/70 mm, stroke 550 mm) and vertical translation cylinder (Øal 100/90 mm, stroke 1,240 mm). Fume extraction panel drive via Bonfiglioli MVF 63 r 1/64 gearmotor with 0.37 kW electric motor.

Botta FTA 40-15 aluminium melting and holding furnace, manufactured 2003. Electrical control panel rebuilt in 2010. Refractory lining and external repaint fully renewed in 2023. Unit is in working condition — refractory has never been fired since the 2023 refurbishment, meaning the furnace is ready for first-use commissioning of the new lining without requiring further refractory work.
